Because of these reasons, and the fact that I love teaching jazz guitar, I have begun offering online jazz guitar lessons through Skype or Gmail Video Chat for beginner, intermediate and advanced level players.
Lessons can be done one-on-one, or you can team up with a friend for a duo lesson, which a lot of people enjoy if they are already practicing and performing with another bassist, pianist or guitarist.
Online jazz guitar lessons are taught using one of two free programs called Skype and Gmail Video Chat. All you need is a computer, a guitar, a camera built in to your computer (99% of all computers have these nowadays) and an interest in becoming a better guitarist, improvisor and musician.
“A Straight Ahead Player of Considerable Merit” – John Kelman All About Jazz
“I just love it when I see a new video lesson posted by Matt. His lessons are concise and to the point! I wish that his lessons were available to me when I was learning how to improvise!” – Vic Juris
“Matt draws on a deep well of knowledge and combines it with a practical approach that allows us to get down to business quickly. His experience as a teacher and performer enables him to tailor a program that allows me to build on my strengths, address my weaknesses, and achieve my goals as a player. Matt doesn’t just show me how, he gives me a game plan that I can apply to new situations. Plus, he’s a freaking nice guy. Working with Matt is time and money well-spent. ”

Over the years I have taught jazz guitar lessons and jazz courses at the Leeds College of Music, University of Illinois, Interlochen Arts Camp, Western Michigan University, Western Illinois University and given jazz workshops throughout the U.S., Canada and Brazil.
During my 18 years as a professional jazz guitar teacher, I’ve found that everybody learns in different ways.
Because of this, I don’t have a standard “method” that I use to teach, each lesson is geared towards the students wants, needs and particular way of learning.
